Most visitors to Jeju Island will arrive in Jeju City, which is located on the north side of the island. Tourists will arrive by either airplane or ferry.
Flights to Jeju Airport (CJU)
Jeju Island Airport (Airport code CJU) is an International Airport, which means that many tourists can travel directly to Jeju Island from other countries as their first point of entry into South Korea. There are also many domestic aircraft services within South Korea to get to Jeju Island.
One of the most popular flight routes is from Seoul to Jeju Island. There are multiple carriers who service this route, and as a result, prices are cheap, and there are almost hourly departures from Gimpo Airport near Seoul to Jeju Island. Ferry to Jeju Island
There are multiple options to travel from mainland South Korea to Jeju Island by ferry. All ferries arrive in Jeju City Port. The ferry departure points and options are detailed below.
- Incheon (Seoul) to Jeju Island Ferry. An overnight trip typically departs at 7pm and arrives on Jeju island at 9.30am with 14.5 hour travel time. The return trip departs Jeju at 7.30pm/8.30pm and arrives in Incheon at 9am/10am. Departs on this route every 2 days.
- Busan to Jeju Island Ferry. An overnight trip, typically departs at 7pm and has a 12 hour travel time, departs every 2 days.
- Mokpo to Jeju Island. A daytime trip, typically departs in both morning and afternoon most days and has a 4.5 hours travel time.
- Nokdong (Goheung) to Jeju Island. A daytime trip, typically departs once per day and has a 3.5 hour travel time.
- Yeosu to Jeju Island. An overnight trip, typically departs at 1.30am and has a 6 hour travel time, departs daily.

One of the most popular options to get around Jeju Island is to rent a car. Jeju Tourist Shuttle Bus
The Jeju Tourist Shuttle Bus enables you to visit both the eastern and western loops of attractions on Jeju Island. You can purchase a day pass for 3,000 won for adults, 2,000 Won for teens and 1,000 won for children to enable you to hop on and off these buses, or alternatively use your T-Money card to pay as you go. These buses with yellow signs operate approximately every 30 minutes over the period 8.30am to 5.30pm each day.
Jeju Tourist Shuttle Bus – Eastern Circuit
The Jeju Eastern Circuit buses are No. 810-1 which operates anti-clockwise, and No 810-2, which operates clockwise. Stops on the Eastern Circuit are as follows, with Daecheon Transit Center as the connection point for this route. You can get from Jeju City to the Daecheon Transit Center on the No. 111 bus.

The Jeju Western Circuit buses are No. 820-1 which operates clockwise, and No 820-2, which operates anti-clockwise. Jeju Island Taxi Service
As Jeju Island is quite small, using local taxis to get around can be a great option. You can either flag a taxi for shorter hops, or alternatively, you can book a Jeju tour taxi for a whole day of exploring.
Jeju taxi fares are quite affordable. For example, from Jeju City to Seogwipo will cost approximately $US 35-45. To catch a taxi from place to place within Jeju City should cost a maximum of $US 10 per trip, the specific amount depends on the distance travelled.
For single taxi rides, use the Kakao T app which can be downloaded from either the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Note that taxis on Jeju Island will mostly congregate around the busier locations, so if you are in a more remote location, you may need to wait longer to be collected.
